Mission partners and participants travel to Chicago, Illinois

The USKZBA will arrange for a transfer from the airport in Chicago to the hotel.

Participants will check into the hotel hosting the mission and receive their mission welcome materials.

Welcome to Chicago Tour

The Agribusiness Mission delegation and local participants will take a walking tour of Millennium Park and take in the sites of downtown Chicago.

Welcome and networking event at Wrigley Field. Home of the World Series 2016 World Series Champions, the Chicago Cubs.

The Agribusiness Mission participants will have the opportunity to watch two top American baseball teams play at the iconic Wrigley Field from a private outfield patio.

Representatives of Chicago-area business, government and organizations will join the Mission participants for a welcome event with keynote speeches from the delegation and two hours of networking before the first pitch, unlimited drinks and classic ballpark food are included throughout the afternoon.

Dinner with a view

The first day of the USKZBA Agribusiness Mission will conclude with a dinner reception overlooking the Chicago skyline and further opportunities for the delegation to make connections with local business and government representatives.

Travel to Moline, Illinois, home of John Deere World Headquarters

Mission participants will have the opportunity to discuss their business and goals for the week in more detail with the rest of the delegation during the travel time.

Lunch at Deere & Company

Before meeting with Deere representatives at their headquarters, participants will walk through the company’s display floor, which includes some of its biggest machines and has been recognized for its design and architecture.

John Deere Harvester Works Tour

The Harvester Works tour follows the entire line of production for combines and front end equipment, demonstrating how Deere organizes its production line and tracing equipment throughout the entire production process.

Cinnamon Ridge Farm Tour

Cinnamon Ridge Farms is a family-owned and run farm. The farm milks jersey dairy cows using robots, raises beef, cattle, pigs, and chickens. It also produces corn, soybeans, and winter wheat, and makes cheese from the milk produced on the farm.
The tour begins in the family’s home where they explain their operation. Then we move on to the robotic dairy barn where cows can been observed being milked by robots. Next is the on-farm store where Cinnamon Ridge Farm sells our products on the honor system. An optional stop is a viewing room of the hog barn to see how hogs are raised in a clean, healthy environment. This tour is about 2 hours in length.

Mississippi River Dinner Cruise

Celebration River Cruises is a family-owned and operated business. The Schadler family is involved in every aspect of the boat’s day to day operations and in the 33rd year of the family owned business.  

Des Moines U.S.-Kazakhstan Business Forum

Welcome networking period – coffee, etc. with time to meet local business and government representatives.

*Separate opportunity for the delegation to arrange for bilateral meetings on the margins of the welcome networking event.

Ag-Financing Panel Discussion

Michele Small, Director of EBRD North America to also give remarks on EBRD’s role supporting business development in Kazakhstan and moderate the discussion.

Panel speakers to focus on ag financing, insurance and risk management, including: John Deere Financial, FBL Financial Group (invited), Farm Bureau Financial Services (invited) , Agrofinance Advisors (invited), Farm Credit Services of America (invited), KazAgroFinance, other KZ finance representative TBC.

Luncheon and Networking

Brief remarks by USKZBA representative and opportunity for Mission partners and sponsors to share success stories of doing business in Kazakhstan and views on continuing opportunities to grow the partnership.

Agribusiness in Kazakhstan Panel

Panel discussion on Kazakhstan’s agribusiness sector- areas of strategic focus and goals for building the US-KZ Agribusiness partnership.

Panelists to include representatives of the KZ Ministry of Agriculture, representatives of the Kazakhstani private sector and American companies who have successful operations in Kazakhstan.

Opportunity for networking, B2B and B2G bilateral meetings (30, 20 minute slots for sponsor companies, 10 minutes for paying private sector attendees)

Evening Gala Reception and Press Event

Evening event with Governor Reynolds (invited), State Government, local businesses representatives and other organizations.

Iowa State Fair Preview

Preview of the Iowa State Fair and opportunity to explore before the Fair is officially open (opening day is August 10). The delegation will be welcomed with an Iowa style pancake breakfast.

The Iowa State Fair is the largest event in the state of Iowa and is one of the oldest and largest agricultural and industrial expositions across the United States. It annually attracts more than a million people during its two-week run.

Iowa State University Visit

Meeting with University leadership and tour of Iowa State University research farms, agriculture technology research and development labs. 
Iowa State University is ranked among America’s top 50 public universities, and is ranked 11th for its agriculture and forestry program. The university supports nearly 750 research projects through its Agriculture Experiment Station, which focuses on research in plants, animals, natural resources, food and nutrition, energy, economics, and more. Students also manage farm operations at the Ag 450 Farm, the only student-managed farm at a land grant university in the United States.

Tour Dairy Science Farm- Iowa State University Research Center

ISU’s Dairy Science Farm provides hands-on learning opportunities for students by providing them jobs with the fully-operational dairy farm. Iowa State University manages six teaching farms, including beef, dairy, equine, poultry, sheep and swine.

BioCentury Research Farm Tour and Q&A

The BioCentury Research Farm (BCRF) is the first-in-the-nation integrated research and demonstration farm devoted to biomass production and processing. Since opening in 2009, the BCRF has promoted and supported advanced research in the areas of biomass production, harvest, storage, transport, preparation, processing and analysis.

Travel to Jackson, Minnesota

Tour of AGCO Intivity Center

The Intivity Center in Jackson, Minnesota includes expanded facilities and a world-class visitors’ center where participants can see some of the most advanced agricultural equipment made by a company with a long-standing commitment to farmer-focused innovation.

Intivity Center and the AGCO facilities in Jackson are where premium tractors like Massey Ferguson® and Challenger® wheel tractors, Challenger® track tractors and application equipment like RoGator® and TerraGator® roll off the assembly line.

Syngenta Seedcare Facilities Tour

The Syngenta North America Seedcare Institute is one of the premier seed treatment research facilities in the world. The facility houses high-tech laboratories for R&D, treating, plantability, dust-off and quality assurance, a scale-up treating area, a treating equipment performance area to simulate real-life experiences for customers, state-of-the-art training facility, seed warehouse as well as office and meeting space.

Evening Free to Explore the Mall of America

The Mall of America is the largest shopping center in the USA.

Minnesota – Kazakhstan Business Networking Forum

The USKZBA is grateful for the support for this event from the Minneapolis Trade Office. The MTO is an important partner and co-host of this forum discussing opportunities for U.S.-Kazakhstan Agribusiness Cooperation.
