Although recent expenditures in the health care sector have only amounted to 2two percent% of Kazakhstan's GDP, rising incomes and growing oil exports will lead to an increase in the welfare of Kazakhstan's people and their demand for healthcare goods and services for many years to come. The concentrations of Kazakhstan's population in Almaty, Astana, Atyrau, and Aksai, and increasing inflows of capital and people to those regions, will further bolster demand for medical services. Strong potential exists for U.S. companies entering the Kazakhstani market in consulting services for healthcare management, engineering services in construction and remodeling of health facilities, advanced medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and hospital partnerships. Several major
oil companies have been asked by the Government of Kazakhstan to earmark
certain funds for development of social infrastructure, including healthcare
facilities in the oil-rich regions of Kazakhstan. Additionally, multilateral
development banks currently have a number of projects underway in Kazakhstan,
which will underwrite and catalyze growth in this sector. |
