8-9 September: “2005 Kazakhstan: Industrial and Innovation Strategy”
Trade and investment conference of the Embassy of Kazakhstan
to be held in San Diego, California. USKBA is supporting this event, open
to members and nonmembers.
22 August: “Kazakhstan’s Economic Success: The Basis for Further
Democratization.” Reception and dinner in honor of Kazakhstan
Foreign Minister Tokaev during his Washington visit to meet with Secretary
of State Rice. Members and invited nonmembers attended.
Second Quarter:
14-16 June: “Kazakhstan Draws a New Wave of Investment: Strategies
for Diversification and Sustainable Growth”
The Asia Society’s annual International Business Conference to be
held in Almaty, with Presidential Dinner on 14 June. USKBA is supporting
this event, open to members and nonmembers. USKBA Executive Director to
speak on the benefits to Kazakhstan of transparency, predictability, the
rule of law, and creating a level playing field.
25 May: “Winds Across the Steppes: Prospects for Continued
Economic and Political Reform in Kazakhstan”
Off-the-record informal luncheon and discussion in Washington with U.S.
Ambassador to Kazakhstan John Ordway, open to members and nonmembers.
18 May: “Kazakhstan’s Industrial Innovation Strategy:
Investing in an Economy at Take-off”
Informal luncheon in Washington with Deputy Prime Minister Sauat Mynbayev
and eight other members of the Kazakhstani delegation to the Central Asia
TIFA Council Meeting. Open to members and nonmembers.
17 May: “Attracting Business to Central Asia’s Regional
Market”
Working luncheon session in Washington for USTR-hosted first Council Meeting
of the Central Asia Trade & Investment Framework Agreement. USKBA
co-sponsored the event with the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce
and the North American Kyrgyz Business Council. Business representatives
from U.S. industries in agriculture, financial services, mining, power
generation, and transportation briefed 20 government delegates from Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Open to members
and nonmembers.
2 May: “Kazakhstan: The Investor’s Perspective”
Executive Director’s briefing on Kazakhstan at the Woodrow Wilson
Center in Washington, open to the public, analytical community, and members.
17 April: Kairat Kelimbetov, Kazakhstan Minister of Economy and
Budget Planning
Executive Director’s private breakfast meeting in Washington to
discuss ongoing economic reform efforts, reported to Board Members only.

Working luncheon session in Washington with 17-member Kazakhstan WTO Delegation
to USTR talks for members and nonmembers.
